Deputy Will Ward End of Watch: November 27, 1899 Deputy Ward succumbed to wounds sustained when he was beaten by a prisoner he was transporting to San Quentin on the Steamship Santa Rosa. |

Deputy Thomas A. Fay End of Watch: May 17, 1919 Deputy Fay was shot and killed while arresting a neighbor who had been arguing with his wife. The man went in to retrieve his hat and came out with a gun. |

The Deputy Sheriff's Foundation awards nine scholarships in the names of our fallen deputies. Children of DSA members are eligible to apply for the Line of Duty scholarships each spring.'
